about the event
this midwife/chaplain-facilitated listening circle is for people who have lost a wanted pregnancy, at any phase of the process. this means very early losses (which providers sometimes call "chemical pregnancy") to late losses toward the end of term (which result in what providers call "stillbirth"), and everything in between.
a loss is a loss. this truth asks us to show up bravely and gently for one another, and it reminds us never to compare pain. in the stories that are offered here, you will find some similar to your own and some very different. my ask of you is that you come to this group when you're in a place in your own healing (which is complex and never "finished") where you can hear and hold the experiences of others without imaging one person's experience to be more or less painful than your own. it's big work.
if after reading this, you feel like you want to have your story heard but are not yet ready for a group, feel free to book private chaplaincy time with me if that feels helpful.
in circle, you'll be invited to share, but that's always your choice to speak or just to witness. all are welcome. you'll have an opportunity to share your baby's or babies' name(s) and how old they would be this year in a group check-in, and you'll have space in small groups to tell your longer stories. again, that sharing is completely up to you.
this is not a space for solutions or advice--it's a space where we can tell our stories, find our own right answers, and support each other through deep listening. before attending, it's very important to read the event details for listening circles here.
be well, and I look forward to being with all of you!
